Glisten: Why we love it!
We are LOVING Glisten these days. While it's not a brand new thread... this fiber hit the market a few years ago and we find ourselves reaching for it more and more when we stitch and kit projects for customers.
Glisten is a wool- metallic blend from Rainbow Gallery. It is manufactured right here in the United States. Glisten is one of the only metallic wools available to needlepointers. Although it is a wool fiber, Glisten actually comes in lots of neon colors that are difficult to find in needlepoint threads. Be sure to check out their hot pink and lime green!
Glisten is what is known as a "single strand" fiber... meaning It is very easy to work with. Simply cut one strand off the card and you're ready to work. Glisten is designed for use on 18 count canvas, but can be used on 13 mesh with looser tension. Best of all: at just $3.25 a card it's a very affordable option for a metallic thread.
We love incorporating Glisten stockings. It's a great way to add a little sparkle and update a more traditional look. They have beautiful golds and silvers!
