Flair: It truly is a fiber like no other. Flair is a nylon thread made in Italy by Rainbow Gallery. If you examine a strand of the fiber itself, you will see that it resembles a pair of nylon stockings in texture. It comes in a glorious array of bright, cheerful colors. It also goes back and forth between 18 and 13 count canvas with ease! Flair is a tubular fiber that has a lot of volume to it. It is wonderful to use on areas of you canvas that you want to pop off the canvas. Flair is a cousin to the fiber Frosty Rays- except it doesn't have the center filament that Frosty Rays does.
Sadly, Flair has the reputation of being a tricky fiber to work with, but with a few simple tips, we’ll have you stitching with it like a pro in no time. Trust us when we say, it's worth the effort for the effect it gives on the canvas!
1. Use short lengths of the thread. We recommend 10-12 inches in length. With every any thread, each time the fiber is pulled through the canvas, there is a bit of wear on it. Using a shorter length helps prevent Flair from unravelling and wearing as you stitch.

2. Use sharp embroidery scissors to cut the fiber on the diagonal. The clean, angled cut will help prevent fraying at the ends.
3. Long Stitches are your friend! We almost never recommend using Flair for large areas of Basketweave or Continental. Instead, try doing Long Stitches/Satin Stitches with the thread. A Satin Stitch is any stitch that spans over two or more intersections on the diagonal. Using the Flair for a longer stitch will also really allow the texture to pop off the canvas! This stitch makes a fantastic border and is great for larger names and letters!
Try Flair on your next project! It's a fantastic thread with a truly unique look.
