Encroaching and Interlocking Gobelin are the same stitch!
In this version of the stitch our stitch will span over one canvas thread horizontally and up two vertically. These stitches will angle towards the upper left as the stitch has been reversed. This means that the stitch will feel steeper than other needlepoint stitches as it doesn't fall on a "true diagonal."
Work this stitch in horizontal rows. Once you have finished your first row, drop down one canvas thread to begin your second row. This next row of stitches will "encroach upon" the previous row. (Meaning you will be stitching down into the previous row).
Try this stitch in Bella Lusso for animal fur. It is one of our favorites!
